This summer, the Texas Chiropractic Association’s Board of Directors and the entire leadership team participated in our annual Summer Leadership Retreat in Fort Worth. The purpose was to develop a game plan for the next year for the organization and to build a more cohesive, energized leadership team. In both cases, mission accomplished!
As part of our process, we took a long look in the mirror and asked ourselves, “Are we getting our message across?” And the consensus was that we could do a better job telling our story. “What is TCA?” Our leadership team agreed that TCA is “THE Voice of Texas Chiropractors” and even incorporated this tagline into our messaging.
In Texas, the TCA is the lone organization out there speaking up loudly for the profession. TCA is the one group that blankets the State Capitol during legislative sessions, building relationships with our elected officials and generating support for pro-chiropractic legislation.
On the legal front, we spend countless hours preparing for trials and representing you in the courtroom when your rights are threatened. Just a few years ago, your ability to treat nerve-related conditions was on the chopping block, and the current threat involves chiropractic acupuncture.
In case you’re keeping score, TCA has done VERY well.
- We have had more than 10 pro-chiropractic bills signed into law since 2017, most notably cementing your right to diagnosis.
- In 2021, we prevailed in the nerve case before the Texas Supreme Court in the Texas Medical Association (TMA) vs. Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners (TBCE).
- This week, we found out that chiropractic prevailed in a District Court in Travis County in the Texas Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (TAAOM) vs. Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners (TBCE).
On top that, we determined our true purpose was to “Protect, Preserve, and Promote” chiropractic through advocacy, legal defense, and positive public relations. One reason TCA can fight on is our Chiropractic Development Initiative (CDI), which funds our initiatives to advance chiropractic in the Lone Star State.
While TCA is proud to be “THE Voice of Texas Chiropractors,” your voice matters. We will start planning our legislative agenda early next year for the 89th Texas Legislative Session in 2025, and we want your input. Tell us what is important to you. We’re listening!
