Norman C. Pigg, D.C., 37th Keeler Recipient

Norman C. Pigg was born on February 7, 1926, in St. Louis, Missouri.  He graduated from Esther High School in 1944 and entered active Naval duty on May 21, 1944.  His basic training was taken at Camp Wallace, located at Hitchcock, Texas.  He served two years in the Navy of which 18 months were spent overseas in Palermo, Sicily.

Following World War II, he entered Westminster Presbyterian College, where he began his studies in Mechanical Engineering.  However, following completion of his first year he became interested in Chiropractic.  Thus, he entered Palmer College of Chiropractic and received his degree of Doctor of Chiropractic in September, 1949.

On November 18, 1949, he was married to Dr. Margaret P. Souch, a classmate.  The daughter of Dr. Gordan Souch, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  They moved to Port Arthur, Texas, on December 26, 1949, where Dr. Norman became clinic Director of Dr. James W. Parker.  He operated the Parker Clinic for two years before going into private practice.  He has practiced in Port Arthur since that Time.

Dr. Norman has been a member of the T.S.C.A. since 1950 and while a member of the Texas Chiropractic Society was helpful in amalgamating the two groups.  His profession has always come first and he has served on many state level T.S.C.A. committees.

He has held all the District 9 offices as well as offices in the Sabine Chiropractic association.  He is now serving as Department Head of Industrial affairs of the T.S.C.A.  He is also serving his second term as State Director of District 9.  He is a past member of I.C.A.  He is a charter member of A.C.A.

Among his civic activities since 1950, he has served as president of the Port Arthur Optimist Club, Cubscout Master, served on numerous committees of the Chamber of Commerce, President of the Knife and Fork Club, committee chairman on several committees of the Golden Triangle Gun Club.  Has 7 years of perfect attendance in the Port Arthur Lions Club of which he is a Past President.

He and his family are active in the First Presbyterian Church of Port Arthur.  They have two sons, John, age 12 and Michael, age 10.  Hopefully, one or both will follow in their parents footsteps and become chiropractors.
