Walter Brzozowske, D.C., 69th Keeler Recipient

Married Sharon Vitopil in 1965 and we have two daughters; Denise and Lori.  Denise is a Neonatal Intensive Care nurse with a Bachelors in nursing and married to Steven Sanders, J.D. an attorney in San Antonio, Texas.  They have three children, Andrew, Allison, and Austin.  Lori has Bachelors in Elementary Education and is married to Scott Rodgers, who has a Bachelor in Business.  They have twin daughters Kylie and Gracen.  He is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Dr. Brzozowske went into private practice in Victoria, Texas, April 1, 1967.  In 1979 started post-graduate studies in Orthopedics, and earned his Diplomate in Orthopedics October 30, 1982 and Fellow in Orthopedics, November 15, 1983.  

Other Post-Graduate Studies:  Applied Clinical Laboratory Diagnosis and Manipulation under Anesthesia.

In 1974-78 was the chairman of the “Walton Project” a special Mental Health Research Project.  It was led by E. V. Walton, M.D., ScD, Ph.D. for the Texas Chiropractic Association.  This was a study of learning disabilities in children.  He has held many offices and chairman of numerous Texas Chiropractic Association Research and Education Committees.

The Texas Council of Chiropractic Orthopedists was formed by he and his classmates July 5, 1981, and was President from 1984-1993.  Holds membership in the A.C.A. Council on Orthopedics, the American College of Chiropractic Orthopedics, as well as the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists.

He has been a member of the American Chiropractic Association, Texas Chiropractic Association as well as the Texas Chiropractic College Alumni Association since 1967.  Was on the Board of Regents at Texas Chiropractic College from 1981-1989 and its Secretary 1985-1989, and was on the Post-Graduate Teaching Faculty as well as an Adjunct Professor.

Some of his professional publications include: 
1.  “Cososternal Neuropathy” American Chiropractic Association Journal in 1968. 
2.  “The Effects of Chiropractic Treatment on students with learning and Behavioral Impairments resulting from Neurological Dysfunction”, A.C.A. 1977, also republished in England and Australia.
3.  “Persistent Postnatal Malposture and Consequential Pathologies”, A.C..A. Journal 1983.  Numerous other articles for the Texas Chiropractic Association Journal.
4. “Texas Guidelines for Chiropractic Quality Assurance and Practice Parameters” Consenus Participating Member 1994.

He has lectured on “Treatment of Students with Learning Disabilities” in 1975, and “Screening and management of Spinal Curvature” in 1986, both for the Texas Department of Health.  Has lecture on numerous occasions on Orthopedic-Neurological Examinations as well as Clinical Laboratory Diagnosis, and “Impairment Rating Seminars”.

Has held hospital privileges at Victoria Regional Medical Center 1995-2001.  Medical Advisory Board member for the Diagnostic Center in Victoria, 1994-2001

He is a Diplomate on the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedists and honored to be chosen as Regent Emeritus of the Texas Chiropractic College Board of Regents 1990, and Alumnus of the Year Award 1994.

On June 22, 2002 he was honored by his colleagues with the highest honor bestowed on a doctor in Texas; as the Doctor of the Year, the Keeler Plaque.  This is the “Academy Award of Chiropractic in Texas."
