Dr. Scott Wofford was born in 1962 to Judy and Dale Wofford in Jones County Texas. He has two brothers, Mark Wofford and Greg Wofford.
Scott graduated from Hawley High school. He then pursued his athletic dream by playing football at Abilene Christian University. After completing his pre-chiropractic studies, he moved forward with his dream of becoming a doctor of chiropractic.
Scott began his studies at Parker College of Chiropractic, and in 1989 Received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. The Lord led Scott to return back to his roots in West Texas to set up his practice in Abilene.
His education also includes a Master in Physical Therapy and a Fellowship in Acupuncture.
Scott met his wife Karla in Kindergarten class. They married in 1985, a year before Scott began his studies at Parker College of Chiropractic. They were blessed wtih two children, Justin Wofford (Hannah) and Sarah Wofford.
Dr. Wofford had interest in serving the chiropractors of Texas early in his career, so he began attending local District 7 TCA meetings and even traveling to attend District 4 TCA meetings in Ft. Worth to learn and expand his knowledge about TCA policies and activism. Dr. Wofford was elected to the District TCA Board of Directors seat where he served for 11 years. he then moved on the the TCA Executive Board, serving as President for two terms, which was one of the most rewarding and challenging positions of his career. he was the first graduate of Parker to be a TCA Board of Directors President.
During his tenure on the TCA Executive Board, Dr. Wofford testified numerous times before the Texas House of Representatives and Senate to fight for and protect our profession.
Dr. Wofford was honored by his peers in 2002 when he was awarded the TCA Young Chiropractor of the Year. He was the first Parker graduate to receive this award.
In 2017, Dr. Wofford was inducted as Fellow International College of Chiropractors. He was honored to be part of a group who render valuable and meritorious service to the profession of chiropractic.
In 2018 Texas Governor Greg Abbott appointed Dr. Wofford to the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners. His commitment has been renewed for six years and he is now secretary of the board and serving on the Enforcement Committee.
Then in 2019, Dr. Bill Morgan, President of Parker University, presented Dr. Wofford with the President's Award of Recognition for his continued support and leadership in the advancement of the chiropractic profesion.
Before the world Covid-19 pandemic in early 2020, Scott was honored to receive the DC of the Year award at the Parker Seminar in Las Vegas.
2020 also brought the most coveted award in the State of Texas to Dr. Wofford when he was presented the TCA lifetime achievement award, the Keeler Plaque. Sinc there as no convention in 2020, Dr. Dale White and Dr. Kevin Raef traveled to Abilene to present this prestigious TCA award. Surrounded by family and friends, Dr. Wofford was truly surprised and tremendously honored to receive the Keeler Plaque. This marked the first time a Parker graduate received this esteemed award.
Dr. Wofford published research and was awarded patent, US5860939, IN 1999 for scientifically validating efficiency of chiropractic adjustments and decompressing the nerve. He was awarded another patent, US7228180B1, for innovation and technology for rehabilitation of stroke patients in 2007.
Dr. Wofford was the founder of Mid America Learning in 2007. This program bridged the gap between chiropractor and nurse practitioners creating dual education.
Dr. Wofford has committed his service to the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners as an examiner for the national board testing.
Collegiate athletic programs from all over the state have referred their student athletes to Dr. Wofford to receive his innovative techniques in sports treatments.
Other volunteer work includes joining with Lay Witnesses for Christ at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Wofford witnessed to and performed chiropractic adjustments to athletes from all over the world.
Locally, Dr. Wofford has been involved in serving on the Salvation Army Board of Directors and as a Sunday school teacher.
He has received "Best in the Big Country" awards from the readers of the Abilene Reporter News for over 20 years.
