In 1937 I was married to Willie Evelyn Kennedy, a student in Hardin Simmons University. After marriage she attended Carver Chiropractic College. Our marriage was blessed with two children, Kenney, who is a student in Texas A. & M. and Penney, who is a junior in Abilene High School.
My first office was established in Seminole, Texas. In 1942 I enlisted in the Air Force and was discharged in January 1946. My wife, Dr. Evelyn and I opened offices in Abilene in July, 1946 and have practiced continually since that time, moving into a new clinic building in December 1957.
I was awarded the Keeler Plaque in 1953 and the following activities probably entered into the consideration: 1) as president of T.S.C.A. our Association membership reached the highest point ever in 1953; 2) during 1952-53 I visited all Districts; 3) Workman’s Compensation Law was amended to include Chiropractic in 1953; 4) T.S.C.A. sponsored course in procedure for filling out insurance forms; 5) initiated change in convention registration to include Ladies Auxiliary tickets.
Activities outside Association in 1953: 1) Chairman of District 1, Chisolm Trail Council, Boy Scouts of America; 2) Chairman of Boys and Girls Committee, Abilene Kiwanis Club; 3) President of Alta Vista School P.T.A.; 4) President of Abilene Association of Little Leagures; 5) Vice president of Carver College Alumnae Association.
General Information: 1) Registered worker in Boy Scout Program for eleven years; presently Chairman of Organization and Extension Committee. 2) Past District Chairman, Girl Scouts of America and presently chairman of the council Nominating Committee. 3) Served as Chairman for fourteen counties in Pony League Baseball for five years. 4) Member of Abilene Kiwanis Club Boys and Girls Committee for ten years. 5) Past president of South Junior High School P.T.A. and presently President of Abilene High School Parents Club. 6) Past Exalted Ruler of Abilene Elks Lodge.
